What can I expect the work to be like?
I work by introducing you to all of the parts of yourself, so that every part of your being can agree on where to go next. I do this through role-play, chair work, expressive arts, somatic work, teaching mindfulness based stress reduction, meditation, and working with your nightly dreams. If you’ve been frustrated by therapists and counselors who only sit and listen passively, or who have a set idea of who you are and who you aren’t —— this isn’t that kind of therapy! Our work together should feel like a visit each week to a fabulous museum, where all of the exhibits are about you. You determine where we go, and I act as a guide; inviting you to engage deeply with the material we find there. I’ve been trained to respect and trust my clients’s own innate inner knowing, and their own processes.
Whether what’s bringing you to therapy at this time has to do with your relationships with others, or just your relationship with yourself, you and your therapist are about to embark on a big adventure together: into the inner reaches of you and what makes you tick. And I am so excited to get to facilitate this process with you. My primary way of working comes from the Process Model, and Holistic perspectives. This means our work together is experiential, creative, collaborative, and takes into account the mind-body-spirit connection. I facilitate this experience with: props, drama therapy, somatic therapy, guided meditation, active imagination, dreamwork, empty-chair work, art therapy, sand tray and psychoeducation. You should also know that I bring a spirit of playfulness and humor to my work with you whenever I can.
Psychotherapeutic Philosophy: How I Practice & Why
I see my role, as a psychotherapist, as being there to offer you a unique experience of your presenting problem, that you just can’t get from a trusted friend or relative, through things like present moment enactments, roleplay, or psychoeducation, to help illuminate and complete unfinished processes and disrupt your old ways of perceiving things. I will also offer you opportunities for safe transit through different Realms of Being and Perceiving, (Interior, Exterior, Interpersonal, Active, Passive, Past, Present, Future, etc.) in order to help you figure out a healthy balance of flow for you between these Realms that serves your purposes in the present moment. I will invite you to explore these corridors of perception that weave between the thinking mind, sensing body, and feeling of emotions, (amongst others), so that you can cultivate a sense of mastery over your own interior worlds, and bring that sense of peace to what you are trying to accomplish in your outer worlds, today.
My background in holistic psychotherapy informs how I view my work with you, in that I see your current circumstances, strengths and weaknesses, lifestyle, and overall health as impacting your emotional states, capacity to learn and grow, and bandwidth for holding space for yourself and others.

Individual sessions are for you if:
You’re ready to dive in and begin working on your issues, and finding ways to get unstuck and living the life you want to live. Perhaps you’ve undergone group therapy in the past, but now feel ready to go deeper than a group setting can provide. Individual sessions can help you take your transformation process to the next level. Individual sessions are also for you if you’ve recently tried couples, or family therapy, and your own unresolved processes are getting in the way of your continued progress in that work.
Individual sessions Are not for you if:
1). You are primarily experiencing problems in your partnership, marriage, roommate, or family system, rather than within your relationship with yourself or your past experiences. And, 2). You’ve already undergone extensive individual counseling and self exploration, and would like to share your discoveries and implement new skills you’ve learned in personal therapy in your relationships with your partner, children, parents, roommate, or other loved ones.
Individual sessions also might not be for you if you feel more drawn to working in a group at this time. Group therapy offers you the chance to connect with others who’ve experienced the same issues that you’re wrestling with. This is also a great option to start with if you don’t feel ready to begin working in depth, one-on-one, with your therapist.
