your journey of self discovery begins

To get started, simply schedule your first “Discovery Session” or “Intro Session,” download and fill out the required paperwork, on the forms page, and your adventure begins!

“Whether what’s bringing you to therapy at this time has to do with your relationships with others, or just your relationship with yourself, you and your therapist are about to embark on a big adventure together: into the inner reaches of you and what makes you tick. And I am so excited to get to facilitate this process with you. My primary way of working comes from the Process Model, and Holistic perspectives. This means our work together is experiential, creative, collaborative, and takes into account the mind-body-spirit connection. I facilitate this experience with: props, drama therapy, somatic therapy, guided meditation, active imagination, dreamwork, empty-chair work, art therapy, sand tray and psychoeducation. You should also know that I bring a spirit of playfulness and humor to my work with you whenever I can. Additionally, when working with children, I utilize Play Therapy and the Love & Logic Parenting approaches.” - Carolina Sang, AMFT

What is the basic perspective of the Process Model of therapy?

“We believe that all of us are looking for a sense of fulfillment and well-being in our lives. As we experience this well-being, we allow our life energy to flow easily and without resistance. However, when negative events happen and we perceive that we are broken, or not safe, we constrict our flow of well-being. This restricts our energy flow and it is then that we experience dis-ease. The Process Model of therapy helps us identify our constrictions and release them, allowing our life energy flow to increase. We focus on helping you to expand your connection to consciousness and to learn to operate from there.” - Don & Carol Hadlock, founders of Process Therapy Institute

Individual sessions are for you if:

You’re ready to dive in and begin working on your issues, and finding ways to get unstuck and living the life you want to live. Perhaps you’ve undergone group therapy in the past, but now feel ready to go deeper than a group setting can provide. Individual sessions can help you take your transformation process to the next level. Individual sessions are also for you if you’ve recently tried couples, or family therapy, and your own unresolved processes are getting in the way of your continued progress in that work.

Individual sessions Are not for you if:

1). You are primarily experiencing problems in your partnership, marriage, roommate, or family system, rather than within your relationship with yourself or your past experiences. And, 2). You’ve already undergone extensive individual counseling and self exploration, and would like to share your discoveries and implement new skills you’ve learned in personal therapy in your relationships with your partner, children, parents, roommate, or other loved ones.

Individual sessions also might not be for you if you feel more drawn to working in a group at this time. Group therapy offers you the chance to connect with others who’ve experienced the same issues that you’re wrestling with. This is also a great option to start with if you don’t feel ready to begin working in depth, one-on-one, with your therapist.

I have heard about the mirror program at pti, is carolina currently accepting clients behind the mirror? Can you help me to be seen behind the mirror at pti?

Carolina is not currently accepting clients to be seen in the Mirror Program, however she can refer you to some fabulous and friendly therapists at PTI who’d love to explore seeing you in the Mirror Program. Clients are definitely still being accepted to be seen in this way! The Mirror Program provides sliding-scale fee therapy to people who agree to be seen by one trainee therapist, who is being guided and trained by a seasoned, master therapist via an earpiece in their ear. Your sessions are viewed and recorded by a team of therapists working together on your issues. Visit PTI’s page on the Mirror Program for more information: http://www.processes.org/counseling/programs-available/

Do you take insurance?

No, we don’t take insurance. However, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance so that your sessions can be billed as coming from an out-of-network provider. We can also often give referrals to awesome therapists who can take your insurance if you’d like.
